More Review on the Stiletto

Pretty similar to my review but thought I would link Julie’s video too since she gives quite a bit of description, demonstrations and results.  Just like my observations, she and some others are experiencing the flaking as well.  Sounds like the flaking is happening after a few weeks of having the product.  I still like it though.

Stilettos and Staying Power

Just a few reviews on some products I have been trying out.  I have been wanting to try this product for a long time as it has gotten a lot of really good reviews.  It is Eye shadow Primer Potion by Urban Decay.  You can either get this at Ulta stores or online from Urban Decay.

I have to say, this stuff works really great!  It keeps your eye shadow from fading and makes it last all day (and night).  It prevents creasing.  It also grabs the eye shadow better when you put it on.  I was a bit skeptical at first because there are so many unneeded makeup products out there.  Lots of stuff that the companies, ads and makeup counter employees try and convince you that you need it.  I usually don’t fall for a lot of that hype.  I still don’t use a foundation primer – moisturizer does the trick just fine before your foundation.  But I digress.  This stuff is great!  Does the trick and I do notice the difference.  I have also heard that Too Faced also makes a good one too.

The only downside to the Urban Decay one is the packaging.  It’s a very pretty purple genie bottle (they know women so well don’t they?) but not practical.  Because of the way it’s packaged you can’t get to a lot of the product.  But some people have come up with solutions to that so that you are not wasting your money.  Looks like they just updated the wand and added a new shimmer color but that bent wand won’t make that much of a difference in product waste.  Urban Decay needs to re-package this in a squeeze tube.  Next time I’ll try the Too Faced brand.  But other than that, good product and does exactly what it promises.

The other makeup item is a good find for a cheap drugstore brand.  Good for me since I’m on a budget.  Lash Stiletto Mascara by Maybelline.  I used to use the more expensive brands like Estee Lauder or Elizabeth Arden for mascara but wanted to see if I could find a good cheap brand to use.  I have seen good reviews on this stuff and even Cindy (aka Grumpy Bunny) even said she really liked this so thought I’d give it a whirl.

Cute packaging as it looks like an actual stiletto heel.  If you are looking for volume or thick lashes, this is not the stuff for you.  It’s a “lengthening” mascara – hence the name stiletto.  I didn’t think I’d like it since I usually go for the thick look but seriously, this is nice.  It does what it says and makes my lashes look long and pretty.  I like the spoolie brush too, thin and long and makes application nice.  Little to no clumping when I put it on.  It goes on pretty light so you don’t feel like you have a ton of mascara on which I like.  When I bought this at Walgreen’s they had a special if you bought one get another one free.  Bam!  Two for the price of one.  Me likey.

The only downside is that the product comes off easily.  This is a good and bad thing.  Good in the sense that when you are taking off your makeup, it comes off super easy without a lot of mess.  The bad is that if you rub your eyes (and I’m an eye rubber) it flakes off very easily and leaves little black dust particles under my eyes.  I have challenged myself a few times to go a day with this stuff on and not rub my eyes, no flaking.  I just have to remember not to rub my eyes.  The more expensive stuff doesn’t come off that easy from rubbing.  For cheap mascara, I was pleasantly surprised.
